IFOLG show 2024 will be at the Renaissance St. Louis Airport Hotel (same as the last 2 shows in 2010 and 2019) and will be co hosted by Gateway Leather Guild and Boots and Saddle leather guilds from St. Louis. As boots and Saddles does not have a website check back on the Gateway website and Facebook page for further information

Hermann Oak Tour

Tour Hermann Oak Tannery with lunch provided by Hermann Oak. The bus will leave the Hotel at 0800 SHARP. No Private Vehicles are allowed at the Tannery due to road construction. There is no Parking there. The bus will leave after dropping everyone off.

I have room for 54 people on the bus. It will be on a first come basis. I will keep a list when your registration comes in. After the bus reaches capacity I will keep a waiting list in case there are cancelations or no shows that morning.

This is a tour you do not want to miss. I personally have been multiple times and still love to go. I learn something new every time. You will see where the hides are kept when they arrive, the floor vats and the drum tanning vats, the grading and sorting areas, and can go to the top floor where the hides are dried.

There are stairs throughout the building as the tannery is in the original building since 1881. The last flight to the drying floor is particularly steep. Some might have to skip that floor and be aware that it is not suitable for wheelchairs or those with limited mobility.

The cost of 20 dollars per person is to pay for the bus charter only.

There is a video " tour" of the tannery on you tube that you can watch, but it is not as amazing at being at the tannery in person where you can see everything up close. I do recommend the video as well though as it has interesting information on the tanning process.
